ABOUT LIGHTHOUSE FAMILY COUNSELING:
Lighthouse Family Counseling was founded by Kate Goree, who is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).
Her motivation for starting her own company is her desire to help people address their mental health issues. She also wants to provide easily accessible and more affordable counseling services to as many people as possible. Kate holds an Associate of Arts degree from Hesston College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Pre Art Therapy degree from Arcadia University, and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Immaculata University. Due to the demand of need for counseling hours, Kate has expanded her practice to accommodate the amount of clients that desire to be seen.

A MESSAGE FROM VICTORIA SMITH, MA, LAPC, NCC:
“Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you have been carrying a lot on your own. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or simply unsure of where to begin. Therapy offers a space to slow things down, talk openly, and begin to make sense of what you are experiencing without pressure or judgment. I work with individuals who are navigating anxiety, past trauma, self-esteem concerns, and the stress that often comes with parenting, relationships, and life transitions. Many people come in feeling emotionally drained or unsure how to move forward. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, supported, and able to speak honestly about what you are going through.
I also work with couples at all stages of their relationship, including premarital counseling, marriage counseling, and times of disconnection or uncertainty. Couples often find themselves stuck in the same patterns or struggling to communicate effectively. I help create an environment where both partners feel heard and can begin to understand one another better while working toward a stronger, more connected relationship. My approach is warm, straightforward, and tailored to each individual and couple. I use Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered, and Solution Focused approaches to support meaningful, realistic change at a pace that feels right for you. I have spent the past 15 years working in the health and education fields, and I now primarily focus my work on individuals and couples. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Services with a minor in Psychology from Chestnut Hill College and my Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Immaculata University. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Educational Psychology at PCOM.
On a personal level, I am a wife and a mother of three, one adult daughter and two younger sons. I understand how full and demanding life can feel, and how easy it is to lose time and space for yourself. Our family also includes two dogs, Jackson and Luna, who is a rescue and a special part of our home. I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, and I aim to make that first step as comfortable as possible.”

A MESSAGE FROM SARAH MAYLAND, MS, LAPC, NCC, RMT, CPT, FNS, CPPC:
“As a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor, I specialize in working with individuals and couples who are healing from trauma inflicted by narcissistic parents or partners. Having a lifetime of personal experience navigating and recovering from relationships with narcissists, in addition to my clinical training and experience, I offer my clients deep emotional support as well as practical strategies they can use to navigate and heal from abusive relationship dynamics.
In addition to narcissistic trauma, I have also worked with clients struggling with: anxiety, ADHD, body image concerns, disordered eating, grief, substance abuse, life transitions, healthy habits, relationship issues, and spiritual concerns. I use an approach that pulls from multiple modalities such as: psychodynamic, existential, solution-focused, and Jungian therapies, as well as CBT, REBT, DBT, and IFS.
I am passionate about working with individuals and couples who are ready and excited to close out trauma cycles, and who are serious about actively using the skills and tools they learn in therapy in their daily life. If you have grown up with a narcissistic parent, are currently in an abusive relationship with a narcissist, or you find that the trauma caused by your parents or past relationships are impacting the health of your current relationships, I am excited to work with you!”

A MESSAGE FROM Rebecca PFeiffer, BA, MS:
“As a Professional Counselor, I am passionate about empowering individuals to navigate life’s challenges and discover their inner strengths and resilience. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that promotes healing and growth in their own unique way, while feeling supported both in and out of session. Together, we will navigate through whatever life brings with care and dedication, ensuring your journey towards well-being is effective and meaningful. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you as we embark on a journey towards personal growth and empowerment together.”
*Self-pay/Cash clients until insurance applications are approved.

A MESSAGE FROM PAT PAVLAK, MA, LPC: TELEHEALTH ONLY
“Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed with life stressors, relationship issues, or dealing with difficult emotions, taking time to listen to what your feelings are telling you can help you take action to mentally feel much lighter. Self-awareness can be the key to creating meaningful changes. I primarily use mindfulness-based techniques to help adults and couples get unstuck, so they can identify goals and eliminate barriers to moving forward. I also offer Christian counseling for clients, if asked.
My counseling style is empathetic and holistic. I use a strengths-based approach to collaborate with individual adults and couples to build on existing skills. I use different therapies based on each person’s need, including Solution Focused Therapy and Choice Therapy. I’ve worked with adults in an outpatient setting on a variety of issues, including substance abuse, relationship issues, stress management, poor self-esteem, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, life coaching, and personal growth development.
I believe that in every stage of life, we can find joy and be intentional about creating this for ourselves. I am enthusiastic about helping each person find what they want for their life and then walking alongside to supply encouragement and support.”

A MESSAGE FROM ELIZABETH SHEEHAN MS/Ed, LAPC, NCC:
“As a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor, I believe the most foundational aspect of this work is a strong therapeutic relationship. When we begin working together, we step on to the same team, collaborating on any goals or hopes you are bringing with you to each session. My personal goal as your counselor is to provide a safe, welcoming, and comfortable space for you to show up exactly as you are; by doing such, we will be able to work through and process your experiences to arrive at a better understanding of what you may want, and how you would like to move forward.
I work from a Person-Centered approach, with the belief that we are all individually unique and such, there is no approach that is a one size fits all. Embracing all the things that make you who you are allows us to successfully work together on your goals, allowing you to truly see your value. I am a firm believer in bringing humor and vulnerability along with us on the therapeutic journey; sometimes, when we take ourselves too seriously, it can cloud our judgement and prevent us from seeing what really is most important. In addition, I often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral and Solutions Focused approaches when I believe it supportive to do so.

A MESSAGE FROM VERONICA JEFFERS, MS, LAPC, NCC:
“As a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor, I aim to build and maintain strong therapeutic relationships with my clients. I utilize a person-centered, collaborative approach grounded in warmth, authenticity, and the belief that clients are the experts on their own lives. I walk alongside clients as they navigate their mental health journey, fostering self-awareness, processing life experiences, and challenging them when necessary. Together, we develop insight, solutions, and strategies that feel meaningful and sustainable.
My work integrates Family Systems Theory to explore patterns, roles, and cycles that may be keeping individuals or relationships feeling stuck. I also support clients in understanding how past experiences shape present functioning, moving beyond symptom management to address the root of challenges while still providing practical coping skills and problem-solving tools.
I work with teens, young adults, individuals, couples, and families, focusing on stress management, life transitions (e.g., education and career changes, relationship and family changes, grief and loss), identity development, anxiety, and depression. With couples and families, I aim to strengthen communication, improve conflict resolution, and foster deeper connection.
I’m especially passionate about supporting teens and young adults, as well as helping couples and families build healthier, more fulfilling relationships.”

A MESSAGE FROM REBECCA SHOEMAKER, MA, LPC, NCC, CCATP, C-DBT: TELEHEALTH ONLY
“I am a compassionate and experienced mental health professional dedicated to supporting individuals navigating life’s challenges, including anxiety, panic, stress, and emotional overwhelm. A MESSAGE FROM BERNADETTE VERA, MA/EdS, LAPC, NCC:
“As a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor, I value collaboration while building our cornerstone of trust in the therapeutic relationship. This will pave the way to nurturing a meaningful and fulfilling experience supporting your next steps forward, and trust in your authentic self. I value your story, and this is your journey. I am here as a steppingstone to unveil your strengths, assist positive trajectories, and guide your self-discovery toward the forward motion you desire.
I meld Person-centered and Cognitive Behavioral theoretical approaches in our committed fulfilling experience together. We will move through a lifestyle approach that encourages mind-body connection promoting a healthy well-being and catalyzing the agency in your life.
I worked in the elite and Olympic gymnastics industry for 20+ years and am a wife and mother. I have experience working with individuals from the pediatric through adulthood populations and truly enjoy working with all life stages.
